Research

One of the most challenging courses for a student to take involves actual research, such as a capstone course. Capstone courses are becoming more common in many fields at an increasing number of universities. The following eight steps outline the general expectation of students in these types of courses:

Step 1: Identify and develop your topic

Step 2: Find background information

Step 3: Evaluate the information you have found

Step 4: Identify a gap in current knowledge

Step 5: Propose a study that, if successful, would fill that gap

Step 6: Conduct the study

Step 7: Collect and analyze the data

Step 8: Draw conclusions and summarize your contribution to your field

While the specific topic will vary significantly from one student to an other, the process is generally the same. We can assist you in transversing the process. The student is still responsible for subject matter expertise.
