Learning
High Stakes Learning offers a custom designed coaching program for college students who want to make the most of their academic experience, learning as much as they can in preparation for their future career, while getting good grades and having enough time left over for a life outside school.
The focus of the program is to learn:
a) the knowledge needed to understand the factors that influence academic success; b) how to cultivate a "success" mindset; c) how to replace bad habits with good habits; d) how to master study skills that contribute to the structure of a learning system; e) how to master metacognitive skills that make it easy to teach yourself.
The entire program is 16-weeks long and is broken up into five phases. The first phase is an assessment phase. Students are given a set of diagnostic instruments that will discern strengths and weaknesses in areas such as mindset, habits, metacognitive and study skills. The next three phases help the student acquire the necessary skill sets for success. Coaching is provided to keep each participant on track and provide the appropriate feedback. The final phase reviews the overall progress of the participant and provides a plan for moving forward on their own.
The program consists of audio-visual instruction,
personal assessments, question and answer sessions with the instructor, group coaching sessions and a
limited number of individual sessions for tackling obstacles to progress.
